What to Expect at Your First Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy Session:

Your first visit will consist of an evaluation performed by a licensed Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist.  You will have a physical exam of the affected area as well as talk with the therapist about your condition.  Your expectations and goals are discussed at this time also.  A program is then established specifically for you by the therapist based upon your physician's recommendations, the results of the evaluation, and your goals.

Your visits thereafter will consist of implementation of the rehab program including pain relief techniques as needed.  A home exercise program will be established and a copy given to you to perform as noted by the therapist on your own at home in addition to your visits at the clinic.

We will communicate with your physician regarding your evaluation and rehab program.  The physician approves the established program with continued progress reports forwarded to your MD through the duration of your treatment.

You can expect to spend 1 hour at your initial evaluation.  Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time to fill out paperwork.  The subsequent appointments will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length depending on your treatment program.
